October 24th FireSmart Clean Up - Country Club is Done ... for awhile

We had another great FireSmart clean up on the 24th and we can say that Country Club Drive is DONE! (Well, for now).

The October 24th clean up built on last June's clean up with the vast majority of trees located within first 15 to 20 feet up the slope limbed up or removed to create good spacing between the trees.

Jackie and Laura want to thank our volunteers Phil Hyde, George Coulter, Dennis Colpitts, Emery Yakowich, Lori Enright, Ella van Dinther, Lynn Weger, Dirwyn Hayes, Dean Jenkins, Ralph Wagner and Bruce Warren.

Everyone worked hard for 2 hours and then enjoyed fantastic pizza from Dunn Enzie's and some excellent pork buns, gyozas, spring rolls and egg custard buns from Xin Yung Asian Restaurant!

And...an huge shout our to Michelle who provided us with some of her famous "Maison Michelle Home-Crafted Bake Goods" - incredible cinnamon buns!!!

Thank you to the City of Kelowna's Fire Department - none of this would be possible without the support from the community chipping service grant that covers the work provided by Action Trees (who provided the prompt clean up on the morning of the 26th).

Finally, thank you to the City of Kelowna's Strong Neighbourhoods Department for the Neighbourhood Association grant funding to pay for the food and drink and other sundry expenses!

Once again, Jackie has put together this fun video so you get an idea of just how much got done.

And stay tuned ... we are now turning our efforts towards the Linear Park for the spring of 2027. So, think about volunteering on the next clean up. It is a great way to meet your neighbours, limb up some conifers and then eat pizza - fun!
