QUAIL RIDGE RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION
MINUTES OF ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Thursday September 11, 2025
Call Meeting to Order
Laura Peacock, President, called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm. Quorum (23) was established with over eligible voting members in attendance. In total, there were over 65 people at the event.
Laura thanked Assistant Fire Chief Dennis Craig for coming to the meeting to speak to the membership. Laura thanked the City of Kelowna for their financial support this year through the Neighbourhood Association Affiliation Pilot Program.
1.0 Approval of Agenda
No changes were made to the agenda that was circulated prior to the meeting.
Motion: To approve the Agenda of the Quail Ridge Residents' Association AGM, dated Thursday, September 11, 2025, as circulated. Carried.
2. AGM Business
2.1 Minutes of AGM dated September 9, 2024
Motion: To approve the Minutes of the Quail Ridge Residents' Association dated Monday, September 9, 2024 as circulated. .
2.2 Financial Statements
The Final September 30, 2024 Financial Statements as presented were accepted as the financial position as of September 30, 2024.
Motion: To approve the Treasurer’s Final Financial Statements as prepared by David Naples with total funds as of Sept 30, 2024 equaling $20,592.42 as circulated. Carried.
The Interim July 31, 2025 Financial Statements as presented were accepted as the financial position as of July 31, 2025.
Motion: To approve the Treasurer’s Interim Financial Statements as prepared by David Naples with total funds as of July 31, 2025 equaling $26,293.57 as circulated. Carried.
Laura noted that with the investment of the contingency funds of $23,293.57 in GICs and the need to bring forward some of the City of Kelowna Neighbourhood Association Affiliation Pilot Program (NAAPP) grant of because many of the anticipated costs, such as the fire/weather sensors from UBCO, were gifted. That was one of the reasons for running the Community Wish List survey to help the board determine what other community projects these extra funds could be applied against.
A member asked about the investment structure of the GICs. Laura noted that the GICS were in a variety of term lengths, from 100 day cashable and up, at vary rates.
2.3 Slate of Directors for 2025/2026
Laura thanked everyone who volunteered this year for the 2025/26 QRRA Board.
Six QRRA members (David Naples, Laura Peacock, Gordon Walter, Jackie Venter, Bruce Warren, Terry Wiechert) agreed to be Directors for 2025-2026 prior to the meeting. No other QRRA members volunteered during the meeting.
Motion: To approve the Slate of Six (6) Directors as presented. Carried.
3.0 Open Session
The open session began with the awarding of the August FireSmart Challenge $100 Nesters gift card to Kitty and Raja Hadawi. As well, a member put forward a motion for a bylaw change to prohibit the planting of cedar hedges in Quail Ridge. It was explained that the association did not have the legal authority to enforce these types of bylaws, given that it was only a resident’s association incorporated under the Society’s Act.
4.0 Motion to Adjourn the AGM
Motion: To Adjourn the AGM. Carried.
Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 7:32 pm.
5.0 Community Presentations
The community presentations started at 7:40 pm
Assistant Fire Chief, Dennis Craig, from the Kelowna Fire Department spoke about the prescribed burn that should be happening this fall on the Linear Park.
Laura Peacock, QRRA, presented the outcomes of the Community Wish List survey.

6.0 Meeting Close and Gifts
Prior to the close of the meeting, 9 “Please Stop Quail Crossing” sign from QRRA.org were handed out to interested members. The signs are an attempt to politely remind drivers to slow down within the community.
