2023/24 was a very busy and productive year for the Quail Ridge Residents’ Association (QRRA).
Our annual garage sale in May was a big success
A great deal of front end work went in early in the year such that by mid-year, QRRA was picked to work with the Strong Neighbourhood’s Program on the Neighbourhood Association Affiliation Pilot Program. The goal of this pilot program is the improvement of interactions between residents’ associations and the City of Kelowna
Concurrently, the association worked to reestablish the Quail Ridge FireSmart program. During the pandemic, the Canadian FireSmart program, as well as the Kelowna FireSmart program changed a great deal. Many people in our neighbourhood moved away. A great deal of work went into establishing links with the City and Province such that by mid-summer, the FireSmart team was working with the City of Kelowna's program to conduct a fire assessment and develop our community’s FireSmart Plan
QRRA also began working more closely with the University of British Columbia (UBCO). A great partnership has been developed with UBCO’s Centre for Wildfire Coexistence -- Dr. Mathieu Bourbonnais and his team has been developing a cost effective fire sensor system that they are going to be sharing with the Quail Ridge Community for free, and
Finally, we have also been process improving all our back office functions to just simplify and streamline how things get done and documenting it for future Boards.

In particular, I’d like to thank Alan Sherbinin and Ralph Wegner for their time on the board. I appreciated all your input and opinions that kept our meetings interesting. In particular, a huge shout out to Alan – thank you SO MUCH for your many, many years of support. I will miss working with you guys.
