Update: Air Quality

At the last Annual General Meeting of the Quail Ridge Residents Association (QRRA), and from time to time during the year, we receive inquiries with respect to the air quality we all experience. There is a heightened awareness during fire season, or an increase in activity at the Pier Mac operations.

In the June update, we told you that the QRRA Board was in the process of setting up meetings with the Ministry of the Environment to discuss air quality monitoring in Quail Ridge. As well, your QRRA Board has also made inquiries to the City of Kelowna and to the provincial government departments of mines and minerals and environmental protection.

As you will appreciate, depending on the nature of the issue or inquiry, the responsible organization may be the City (ex. debris on roads; grass trimming), the Department of Environment (for airborne particulates), or the Department of Mines (for the operations of the Pier Mac site).

You can submit issues to the City of Kelowna on their "Services and requests" web page: https://www.kelowna.ca/city-services/services-requests.

For environmental issues, you can email the provincial government directly at environmental.complaints@gov.bc.ca.
