City of Kelowna Accepting Nominations for Civic & Community Awards
The City of Kelowna is accepting nominations for Civic & Community Awards until February 11, 2022. These awards recognize outstanding contributions and achievements in our city each year. The award program includes categories for youth, artists, athletes, volunteers, businesses and volunteer organizations. See: kelowna.ca/civicawards.
Congratulations to Sam Samaddar of YLW
Kelowna International Airport Director Sam Samaddar became Chair of Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) on January 1st. Mr. Samaddar, representing YLW, is the first Tier 2 airport and the second Canadian to be named Chair of ACI-NA and reflects the leadership of YLW throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. As Doug Gilchrist, Kelowna City Manager states, ”Sam’s appointment will also help to highlight, not only the entire Okanagan region, but how YLW is an economic, business and tourism gateway to Western Canada and the USA.”

City of Kelowna Adopts Official Community Plan
The 2040 OCP provides a policy framework for Council by addressing issues such as housing, transportation, infrastructure, parks, economic development, and the natural and social environment, and how the city should grow over the next 20 years. See: 2040 Official Community Plan | City of Kelowna
The OCP covers many topics of note to the Quail Ridge Community including the City’s goals for suburban communities like ours, key employment areas including the University of British Columbia (Okanagan Campus) and Kelowna International Airport and the goals around expansion of the transportation Gateway (YLW).
Book Covid Vaccinations at Pharmasave
Airport Village Pharmasave reached out to let all of us know that they are now providing COVID vaccinations.
Individuals can book their vaccination online at getvaccinated.gov.bc.ca or by calling 1-833-838-2323. Airport Village Pharmasave is listed as "Pharmasave Health Centre #1010". Individuals who are unable to book online or by phone can call the pharmacy at 778-484-8960 to book.

Construction of the ACE Hardware Harmony Homes building has begun on Pier Mac as well as the Finning Tractor facility on Matrix Crescent.
As well, Lynx Air (Lynx) will begin service at YLW in April 2022. Lynx Air is an affordable airline that will provide non-stop service to Calgary and Vancouver twice a week starting on Friday, April 15, 2022.
Activities at the Pier Mac facility have ceased and rumors of an Amazon warehouse opening on this property have been circulating. After confirming with the City of Kelowna, we can state that these are just that…rumors. We will keep investigating and bringing up updates as we learn of them.
